Phone Screen Magnifier

★⯨★★★ 1.5/5 Tech Made Simple £8–£12

A plastic magnifying screen that claims to turn your phone into a 12-inch display. What you actually get is a dim, blurry image and a dead angle problem.

✔ Get it if: Honestly? Nobody. Every problem it claims to solve has a better free solution built into your phone.
✖ Skip it if: Anyone tempted by the "cinema screen from your phone" videos. That is not what arrives.

👍 What’s good

  • It's cheap
  • Folds flat for storage (where it will stay)

👎 What’s not

  • Image is blurry at the edges, always
  • Screen brightness drops massively through the plastic
  • Only works in a dark room at one exact angle
  • Your phone's built-in zoom and text settings do the job better, free

What it claims to do

It claims to magnify your phone screen 3–5x into a "12-inch HD display" for films and reading.

What happened when I tested it

Tried films, YouTube and reading at every angle and light level in the house. Best case — pitch-dark room, head clamped at one angle — it was still blurry at the edges and noticeably dim.

📋 Test notes: Tested in 4 lighting conditions with 2 phones. Unusable in daylight. Marginal in darkness. Returned mine.

What I liked

It folds away neatly. That's genuinely the full list.

What I didn’t like

Everything it claims. It's a sheet of magnifying plastic sold with cinema screenshots. If your eyes struggle with phone text, your phone already has larger text, zoom and reader modes built in — free and sharper.

Price & value

Even at £8 it's poor value, because the free alternative on your phone is better.

Worth it or bin it?

Bin it. This is exactly the kind of product this site exists to catch. Save your tenner: Settings → Display → Text Size does more.
